Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

What is LNG? Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid state, at about -162°C (-260°F), for storage and transportation. This process reduces its volume by approximately 600 times, making it far more efficient and practical to transport over long distances, especially where pipeline infrastructure is unavailable.

Why LNG Matters: In Nigeria’s energy ecosystem, LNG presents a critical opportunity to deliver cleaner-burning fuel to industrial users and power producers. It serves as an alternative to diesel and fuel oil, offering significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and operational costs.

How We Do It: At Ajaokuta Gas Park, our modular LNG facility starts at 4 MMSCFD with a scalable design up to 40 MMSCFD. This flexibility allows us to meet both immediate and future energy demands from key sectors including manufacturing, mining, and large-scale agriculture.

Benefits: LNG provides a reliable and continuous energy source, especially for off-grid operations. It improves energy security, reduces emissions, cuts operational costs, and supports Nigeria’s transition toward cleaner industrial fuel usage.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

What is CNG? Compressed Natural Gas is natural gas that has been compressed to less than 1% of its volume at standard atmospheric pressure. It is stored in high-pressure vessels and used mainly as a substitute for petrol, diesel, or propane in automotive applications.

Why CNG is Important: As Nigeria looks to decarbonize its transport and logistics industries, CNG provides a clean, cost-effective alternative. It emits significantly less CO₂, NOx, and particulate matter, contributing to improved air quality and healthier communities.

How We Deploy It: Our 20 MMSCFD capacity CNG plant uses modular skid-mounted units that compress gas for delivery across a 250km radius. It supports logistics hubs, commercial fleets, public transport, and small industries looking to lower their energy expenses while improving environmental performance.

Benefits: Reduced transportation costs, environmental sustainability, energy diversity, and compatibility with existing engines (with minimal modifications). CNG is ideal for cities and states seeking to modernize mobility and lower urban emissions.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)

What is LPG? LPG is a mixture of propane and butane gases that are compressed into liquid form for storage and distribution. It is primarily used for cooking, heating, and as a fuel in some vehicles.

Why LPG is Needed: A large portion of Nigerian households still rely on firewood and kerosene, both of which are harmful to health and the environment. LPG offers a safer, cleaner, and more efficient cooking solution that aligns with Nigeria’s energy access goals and health improvement objectives.

How It Works at Ajaokuta: Our facility has a 4,000 MTPA capacity dedicated to bulk supply to distributors, retailers, and institutional users. This ensures large-scale availability and affordability, even in rural and peri-urban areas.

Benefits: Cleaner indoor air, reduced deforestation, lower health risks from smoke inhalation, and improved energy security at the household level. LPG also provides a stepping stone for Nigeria to transition fully to cleaner domestic energy sources.

Embedded Power Solutions

What are Embedded Power Solutions? These are localized power generation systems that operate independently or alongside the national grid. They are designed to meet the specific energy needs of industrial parks, estates, and special economic zones.

Why They’re Valuable: Nigeria’s grid system is frequently unreliable. Embedded power provides a dependable alternative for businesses that require uninterrupted electricity. It ensures production uptime, operational efficiency, and cost predictability.

Our Approach: Ajaokuta Gas Park is developing a scalable embedded power plant capable of generating up to 50MW at full capacity. This power will support park operations and provide surplus energy to surrounding industrial clients in both Northern and Southern markets.

Benefits: Reliable and efficient power supply, reduced downtime, energy cost savings, and potential to export power to neighboring facilities and states. Embedded power is critical to industrialization and economic resilience.

Gas Logistics & Infrastructure

What Does This Mean? Gas logistics refers to the systems, vehicles, and infrastructure used to transport natural gas products (LNG, CNG, LPG) from production facilities to end users.

Why It’s Essential: No matter how much gas is produced, it must be delivered safely, reliably, and efficiently. A strong logistics backbone ensures that gas reaches customers on time, in the right quantity, and at the right pressure/temperature conditions.

How Ajaokuta is Solving It: We’ve invested in LNG tankers, CNG trailers, and partnerships for future rail integration. Our infrastructure is also pipeline-ready, making it easier for clients to connect directly to supply lines or receive bulk deliveries via road.

Benefits: Broader market access, flexible delivery options, reduced distribution bottlenecks, and an end-to-end energy solution that ensures customer satisfaction and market reliability across Nigeria.
